How to use your UAE residence for travel

  1. Carry both documents: Your Indian passport and your valid UAE Emirates ID + residence visa stamp. Some immigration officers ask for both.
  2. Check validity rules: Most countries require your UAE residence to be valid 6+ months beyond entry; some (Georgia) require 12+ months.
  3. Verify before booking: Rules change frequently. Use the "Official source" link next to each country to check embassy-level details.
  4. Book flexible tickets on your first trip under this combo — edge cases happen at immigration, especially for newer residence permit types.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries can Indians visit visa-free with a UAE residence visa?
A UAE residence permit unlocks visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to countries like Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and more — on top of what Indian passport holders can already visit. We list all of them below with official sources and day-limits.
Do I need to carry my UAE Emirates ID when travelling?
Yes. Most countries that grant entry to UAE residents will ask to see your valid Emirates ID and/or residence visa stamp in your passport at immigration. Carry both, plus proof of return ticket and accommodation.
Does a UAE visit visa count, or only a residence permit?
Only a valid UAE residence permit (issued for work, investor, family, student, or golden-visa categories) counts for these bonus travel privileges. A short-stay UAE tourist visa does not unlock the same benefits.
My UAE residence visa expires soon — will it still work for travel?
Most countries require your UAE residence permit to be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned entry date, and some (like Georgia) require 1+ year of remaining validity. Always verify with the destination embassy before booking.
Does this also apply to other GCC residence permits (Saudi, Qatar, Kuwait)?
Some exemptions — notably Armenia — apply to all GCC residence permit holders, not just UAE. But most countries on this list are specific to UAE residents. Always check the official source linked next to each country.
How accurate is this list?
We compile these exemptions from official government sources (embassies, ministries of foreign affairs). Last verified: April 2026. Visa rules change without notice — always verify with the destination embassy before booking travel.
